At The House of Hormones, we know that understanding hormone disruptors can feel overwhelming.
From skincare and supplements to bedding and everyday household products, it isn’t always easy to understand which ingredients and materials may contribute to hormone disruption exposure and which may not. That’s why we created HCode (HC).
HCode is our simple scoring system designed to help women quickly understand how products measure up when it comes to potential hormone disruption exposure factors. Every product is given a score out of 100. The higher the score, the lower the potential hormone disruption exposure profile based on our assessment of ingredients, materials, formulation transparency, and overall product design.
Why HCode Exists
We’re exposed to thousands of products throughout our lives, yet understanding how those products may interact with our hormones isn’t always straightforward. Ingredient lists can be confusing, marketing claims can be misleading, and researching every product yourself is simply unrealistic.
HCode was created to cut through the noise and provide a simple, easy-to-understand reference point for women looking to make more hormone-conscious choices. Our goal isn’t to tell you what to buy.
Our goal is to help you make informed choices with confidence.
How Products Are Assessed
Products are reviewed across several areas, including:
- Ingredient profile
- Formulation transparency
- Additives and processing
- Material and exposure considerations
These factors are combined to create an overall HC score out of 100.
Understanding the Score
🟢 HC 90–100
Low Hormone Disruption Exposure Profile
🟡 HC 80–89
Good Choice
🟠 HC 70–79
Moderate Exposure Considerations
🔴 HC Below 70
Higher Exposure Considerations
A Note From THOH
HCode is designed to be a practical tool, not a source of fear.
A lower score does not mean a product is unsafe, and a higher score does not guarantee suitability for every individual.
HCode is simply a way of comparing products through a hormone-conscious lens, helping women navigate an increasingly complex marketplace with greater clarity.
