DIVERSITY, INCLUSION, EQUITY & BELONGING (DIEB) POLICY

The House of Hormones

1. Introduction

At The House of Hormones (THOH), we are committed to creating a diverse, inclusive, equitable, and respectful environment across everything we do — including our website, community spaces, content, product evaluations, HCode (HC) scoring system, and THOH inHouse Studies.

We believe that better outcomes in women’s health and wellbeing come from inclusive perspectives, lived experience, and accessible education.

This policy sets out the principles that guide how we operate as an editorial, community, and research-led platform.

2. Our Commitment

THOH is committed to ensuring that all individuals engaging with our platform — including users, community members, participants, and partners — are treated with dignity, fairness, and respect.

We do not tolerate discrimination or exclusion on the basis of:

  • age
  • disability
  • gender identity or reassignment
  • pregnancy or maternity
  • race or ethnicity
  • religion or belief
  • sex
  • sexual orientation
  • socio-economic background

3. Inclusive Platform Principles

We aim to ensure that THOH remains accessible, respectful, and inclusive by:

  • Using inclusive and respectful language across all content and communications
  • Designing content that is accessible and understandable to a broad audience
  • Encouraging diverse perspectives in community discussions and feedback
  • Creating a safe environment for sharing lived experiences

We recognise that conversations around hormones, health, and wellbeing can be personal, and we are committed to ensuring users feel respected and heard.

4. HCode (HC) Fairness & Neutrality

HCode (HC) is a comparative, educational scoring system designed to help users understand potential hormone disruption exposure factors in everyday products.

THOH is committed to ensuring that:

  • HC scores are applied consistently using internal methodology
  • product evaluations are based on criteria, not brand identity or commercial influence
  • no individual, brand, or third party can guarantee, purchase, or influence HC outcomes

HCode is designed to be an independent informational framework and is applied equally across all eligible products.

5. THOH inHouse Studies Ethics

THOH inHouse Studies is a community-led product insight and testing programme.

We are committed to ensuring that:

  • participation is voluntary
  • participant contributions are treated respectfully
  • feedback is used responsibly and ethically
  • insights are anonymised or aggregated where appropriate

We do not tolerate discrimination or bias in how participant data is collected, interpreted, or presented.

All inHouse Study outputs reflect lived experience and are not clinical or scientific assessments.

6. Community Standards

Across forums, comments, and community spaces, we expect respectful and constructive engagement.

We reserve the right to remove content that:

  • is discriminatory, abusive, or harassing
  • spreads misinformation about individuals or groups
  • targets brands or individuals in a defamatory way
  • undermines the safety or integrity of the community

7. Partnerships & Representation

We aim to work with partners and brands that align with THOH values of transparency, accessibility, and respect for women’s health.

We do not discriminate against partners on non-legitimate grounds, and all product inclusion decisions are based on THOH editorial, educational, and scoring frameworks.

8. Continuous Improvement

We are committed to continuously reviewing and improving our practices to ensure THOH remains inclusive, accessible, and representative of the diverse communities we serve.

Feedback from users, participants, and partners is welcomed and used to improve our platform and processes.

9. Legal Compliance

This policy aligns with relevant UK legislation, including:

  • Equality Act 2010
  • Human Rights Act 1998
  • Modern Slavery Act 2015
  • Employment Rights Act 1996 (where applicable)
