@kas I use oat barista (my preferred is from Aldi) instead of dairy milk. Add the same amount as you usually would and don't be guided by the colour of the coffee as it will look darker than you normally drink it, but will taste right.
Slowly getting used to the taste
I tried it like indian style, where you boiled milk and water together with spices and then add to the powder. Definitely a lot more palatable. Not something for everyday but I think as my weekend coffee this would be nice.
Also has anyone found that when I goes cold. There is a sour taste. The other day it went cold while I was working and went to sip it, definitely not nice
I’ve been having a cup of the Love Mushroom every morning for the past week. Absolutely love it!!! Once I got used to the colour (with milk added), being a bit murky brown and the fact that I was swapping my morning caffeine hit I was super happy with both the taste - smooth, delicious coffee, gently sweet taste - not a slight fishy or earthy taste like I’ve had with some other mushroom coffees. I’ve also noticed that I don’t miss my caffeine AT ALL which was a huge surprise and benefit. The functional mushrooms have been doing the trick - giving me clarity, energy and longer focus without any jitters or crash mid morning.
I’m so interested in the power of functional mushrooms so I’m happy to have found a drink that genuinely seems to work for me 🙏
Looking forward to the ongoing benefits of love mushrooms!
I have been regularly substituting my usual morning coffee with the mushroom one but I can’t honestly say that I would choose it if I wasn’t taking part in this study.
I drink it black and have concluded that it needs to be relatively strong and also finished while still hot. The sweet aftertaste is something I am not enjoying, maybe because I never take sugar in my drinks normally?
I haven’t noticed any positive changes yet but I have been recovering from flu so this may have masked any benefits.
I’ve given my pack away. The taste is not very nice and tastes like cheap coffee.
I’m bot being a snob but it’s really not nice tasting.
@rosh I never thought of making coffee in the same way as chai (which I love) I'll definitely give this a go - thank you for the idea.
I have found that if I make it the usual way - black with a little milk added - then if it goes cold the last mouthful feels a little gritty and tastes sort of mushroomy and a little 'thin'/sour
I agree with @theresacoo that it is reminiscent of an old style cheap coffee in that it really reminds me of the Mellow Birds my grandma used to like made with half milk and half water. I've been making the mushroom coffee sometimes with half water and half soya with a splash of oat barista and it's quite a nostalgic thing for me. I can almost hear her saying " a drinks too wet without a biscuit"!
@danijeph I have been amazed to have no 'hangover' from suddenly stopping having quite a lot of caffeinated coffee every day, and no energy reduction either. I'm hoping at some point to have an energy and alertness increase, but I'm definitely not missing the caffeine.
Hello
I must admit I’m not a fan of mushroom coffee and I like a milky coffee, so maybe I’ll try it with frothy milk and add cinnamon. I’m not sure if it’s helping with my hormones either but I’ll persevere.
👍😀
I’ve been enjoying this mushroom coffee. It feels like it is supporting my system rather than draining it. I use my frother and add soya milk. I haven’t particularly noticed physical benefits yet but haven’t had the negative depleting effects coffee brings me. Look forward to seeing how this pans out over the remaining days.
Another week in and I’m still enjoying my Love Mushroom coffee every morning. It has helped with my focus and tiredness without the coffee crash or anxious jitters which I can experience sometimes, especially on my commute (which isn’t fun at all). Keeps me balanced all morning. I’m going to try one in the afternoon this week to see if it perks me up throughout the day.
Im still liking the taste, particularly with frothy milk to make a latte, although it doesn’t smells as nice as fresh coffee and I do have to put a very heaped spoonful in to get the strength I like. I can live with that though for all the benefits I feel it’s giving me vs. caffeinated coffee.
@theresacoo Hi! Thank you for giving it a go! With so many products on the market you're not going to get along with them all - and that's exactly what these studies are about! Discovering what works for you and what doesn't😍 maybe capsules would suit better if it was the taste you struggled with?
@house-of-tarot Great to see you're enjoying Love Mushrooms, mushroom coffee! Being able to avoid that caffeine crash sounds amazing! 😍
