How to deal with hot flushes and night sweats when clinicians say you can’t have HRT, due to past cancer. (No not even synthetic HRT) Thanks

I would like to know about testosterone - what is a normal level for women, how to find out how much a person's has reduced, and what forms can be prescribed.

I asked my GP and he referred me to my local hospital - they would not test me to see what my level was, the (consultant? registrar?) would not shut up about libido and dryness - even though I started out by saying telling him I was interested in improving energy and then kept telling him libido and dryness were not an issue - he sent me to a 'specialist' (nurse? junior Dr?) and she told me (twice, I asked in order to check that I hadn't misheard) that testosterone was NOT a hormone, and that taking it would definitely cause male pattern baldness and always did. 

I did get a prescription for a gel, but it was very messy to apply, difficult to be sure how much I was using, and did possibly cause slightly dark and long hairs to appear on my upper inner thigh area. As I now had no confidence in the people at the hospital it seemed pointless to go back unless I had more information to present them with.

I'm about to move into full meno from peri-meno and am 53.  I've recently started getting regular and interspersed throughout the day sharp stabbing pains shooting up into my vagina.  I'm hetero and not in a reli/ not having sex.  I do have fibromyalgia but have never experienced this before and a lot of my body pain is much better controlled now these days anyway, so I can't understand why this is happening.  I don't have any other pain or issues with or from my vagina or bladder or that generic area - no discharge either.  Can you offer any advice?  Many thx
