Tips to help you lose weight?
Hi Joanna,
I personally follow this routine and it has worked out great for me so far.
First, keep in mind that many experts say it’s best to lose weight gradually. It’s more likely to stay off. If you shed pounds too fast, you’ll lose muscle, bone, and water instead of fat, says the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
You’ve probably heard the saying, “calories in, calories out”; as in, you just need to burn more calories than you eat and drink.
If you're still looking to lose weight, there are a few healthy tips that hold true for almost all of us across the board and they’re concepts that we can put into practice beginning right now.
- Do not skip breakfast Eat a high protein breakfast
- Drink plenty of water
- Do not stock junk food
- Eat more fiber
- Cut down on alcohol
- Limit sugary drinks and fruit juice
- Eat slowly.
I dunno about “secrets”, but one pretty uncommon but highly effective strategy for weight maintenance is…
Reverse Dieting.
In the most simple terms, reverse dieting means that you s-l-o-w-l-y increase your caloric intake after you’ve arrived at your “goal bodyweight”.
You simply eat 100–200kcal more per week (compared to your fat loss intake) and over 2–4 weeks, you finally reach a point where you’re eating a lot more food WITHOUT gaining more than 2kg of bodyweight.
Reverse dieting works so well for many, because you’re transitioning to more of a “lifestyle” approach to nutrition and are not obsessing about calories or food all day.
Also, you prevent the dreaded “post diet” binge that derails a lot of people.
