Do we really need supplements or is a healthy diet enough?
The problem is that “healthy diet” is subjective. It means different things to different people.
To some a vegan diet is healthy. Some consider healthy a diet full of dairy. Others consider healthy a carnivore diet: this kind of diets are becoming more and more popular nowadays.
The hand you see in the photo belongs to a man who was eating a carnivore diet, meaning he was having only animal products (meat, cheese, etc). These weird signs on his hands are actually his cholesterol: when he measured it, the cholesterol in his blood was 5 times the normal amount for an adult!
Another way our skin tells us when something’s wrong with our health!
The way I see it, an healthy diet is varied, full of veggies, vitamins and antioxidants. However I also take collagen powder daily for my skin, muscles etc, together with other supplements; I am a big fan of supplements.
Smokers absorb vitamin C differently. It would make sense for a smoker to take a vitamin C supplement. Things like that must be taken into account; ultimately, the best thing to do would be to do blood tests frequently and ask a trusted doctor for advice.
Hope this helps!
Peter.
